Curry Leaves- Benefits in a basket
Hi guys!!
After a long long time I am back on Blogger. Really had a very busy schedule for the past 2 months.
As I have shifted to Chennai from Bangalore for my new job, my regular food habits have also changed. In Chennai, I have seen people seasoning every meal with curry leaves. So just out of curiosity I started searching the health benefits of curry leaves. Believe me it actually has lot of health benefits other than providing flavour to food and can also be used to treat burns, boils and bruises!!
Surprised? OK.. So let me take you through all the benefits of Curry Leaves..
Health Benefits:
Curry leaves either fresh or dried or in powdered form contain protein, fat, carbohydrate, calcium, iron and B-carotene (Vitamin A), Vitamin C, Vitamin B and Vitamin E in plenty. [1]
i)Vitamin A in curry leaves are beneficial for good eye sight.
ii) Fresh leaves helps stop diarrhoea and gastrointestinal issues.
iii) Calcium helps in preventing Osteoporosis in Women and keep bones strong.
Decrease in Blood sugar level:
Diabetes Mellitus patients can also intake fresh curry leaves as it helps in reducing the blood sugar level.[2].
Heart Functioning:
The antioxidants help in preventing oxidation of cholesterol thus lowering the cholesterol levels. This also increases the good cholesterol level thus helping in good heart functioning.
Hair Growth:
This is mainly for ladies out there!! If you really want a bouncy, shiny hair with good volume and want to prevent greying of hair- Apply small quantity as a paste of curry leaves on the scalp once a week and see the difference.
